Can we enter UK upto 14 days before employment start date?

Can we enter UK upto 14 days before employment start date?

My visa validity is starting from 22/09/2014, which is exactly the same day as my date-of-joining in the offer letter and CoS. Is it true that we can enter UK up to 14 days before the employment start date? Can someone please confirm this?

in your visa application you probably gave your intended date of travel as the work start date.

The visa is not valid for entry into the UK before the valid from date.

If you have a long term visa and turn up a few days earlier at the UK border the BFO may exercise discretion and let you enter but IMHO this is a risk not worth taking

I specified the intended date of travel as 08-Sep-2014 in my application but I received the visa with "valid from" as 22-Sep-2014. The visa is valid for 5 years and 14 days (Tier 2 General). If it's a risk entering prior to 22-Sep-2014, I'd rather not do it.
