Ukrainian Spouse and 2 Stepchildren

Post by woodstock1 » Tue Jul 29, 2014 9:44 pm

Hello again everyone, our ongoing struggle to prepare ourselves for our family visa applications is causing a few questions that I hope someone here could help us with. I am in the process of renting a suitable house that will meet the home office requirements for us. This is great, but I wonder is there an amount of time that I have had to live there before the application will be accepted?
The list of documents required on the Home Office website seems a little vague, could someone share their experiences of their application and offer any advice on what documents to send to prove we are married, and in a proper relationship even though we live apart and see each other only on Skype for weeks at a time?
Will my wife and step children require any medical insurance before the application is accepted? I can see no mention of this on the website, but I can't help wondering if this will be an issue.
Money.......the big question of course, I am in Britain, they are in Odessa, can I pay for their applications from here, or do I have to travel there and pay? Will my wife need any particular amount of money in her bank account?
Finally, I am a little confused about the biometric information that is required. As I read it, this information is collected in Britain, when their permanent residence application goes in. Is this correct?

Many many thanks for any information and help given, this process is becoming a real strain on all of us. This forum has been an absolute godsend. Cheers...Si..

No - whenever you move in and have proof of tenancy, council tax bill and ideally a letter from the landlord agreeing to have your wife and step children move in

- marriage cert
- proof of communication: screen shots of call history on Skype, mobile/land line call records, photos ideally of you, wife and kids

No this is not necessary

Money.......the big question of course, I am in Britain, they are in Odessa, can I pay for their applications from here, or do I have to travel there and pay? Will my wife need any particular amount of money in her bank account?

You can pay from here via debit or credit card. Be mindful that your bank may query the amount before allowing the payment so may need to inform them first. Your wife won't need any particular amount in her account. If she works (new question on the revised form) then supply payslips/banks statements for a couple of months but thus is not essential

Finally, I am a little confused about the biometric information that is required. As I read it, this information is collected in Britain, when their permanent residence application goes in. Is this correct?

Not sure about that?? It's for ID purposes and done at every stage of application until ILR
