Hi, Sorry if I didnt need to start a new topic. My Colombian friend wants to visit me in the England. She lives and studies in Idaho in America but is currently in Colombia visiting family and is due to fly back to America on the 17th of August. She applied for her UK visit Visa from Bogota whilst she is there thinking it would be easier being a Colombian. I believe within her application shes supplied adequate information which includes a letter from myself, a letter from her college in Idaho, bank statement showing enough money, proof from her dads work where it had come from etc.
The first problem we have is she received an email from the Embassy stating the visit visa would take 13 working days from the 28th of July which was the date of email. Bear in mind the 7th of August in Colombia was a public holiday. So 13 working days would take us up to the 15th August which is next Friday! She flies home to America on Sunday and the Embassy has her passport. So shes going to leave it until Thursday and call them up letting them know that she needs her passport and she will collect on Friday. However this could withdraw her application should it not be completed by then. So its all very stressful.
Any advice on the above complication would be great and also should she not get the Visa can she apply in America? I believe the Embassy is in Washington but this is too far to travel from Idaho. We have even discussed meeting in Turkey due to her not needing a Visa but ideally her coming here would be better. Thank you in advance.
