Switching to tier 2 general

Post by ajithkn666 » Thu Aug 14, 2014 12:11 am

Hi,

I came to UK as tier 2 ICT established staff in May 2011 and the visa was valid for 2 yeas, after which it was extended for another 2 years, with a validity until April 2015.
I would like to know whether I can switch my visa to Tier 2 general without going back to my home country.
If yes, how long can I stay in UK and will I be able to obtain ILR ?

Thanks,

Ajith

you are allowed to switch to T2G and if you do your max stay will be to May 2017 (6 year cap)

Hi manci,

Thank you for your reply.
What will happen after May 2017?
Should I go back to my home country or will I be allowed for further extension in any other visa category ?
Will I be eligible for ILR after May 2017?

Thanks,

Ajith

if you switch to T2G the 6 cap means that you will not be able to extend your leave further under T2.
Unfortunately you are not be eligible for ILR on the 5 year route.

Thank you for your reply manci.
So, after May 2017, I have to go back to my home country and will have a cooling period of 12 months if I want to again apply for tier 2. Is that right?
