switching from student to alternative

Post by salmanfaaris » Thu Jul 12, 2007 5:52 pm

hello, am 25yr old young man. i came to this country 3years ago and i have been studying since then. i was working morethan 20 hrs a week for the past 2years and now i want to change my status to either work permit, training scheme or hsmp. am a bit puzzle at the moment as my employers are eager to endorse any form to grant me stay n for them to retain me but the point is, the job am doing doesn't pay any relevance to the qualification that i acquire.
i have extended my visa three times and am going for the third but this time am scared cos im afraid they may get to know that am going beyond the required hrs. i have just finished my postgraduate and waiting for the result and certificate probably early next year. my visa expires very soon. what do i do pls?

The reason no one is answering is because first, obviously you shouldn't be pushing the terms of your visa conditions so shame on you
Second, what is that you think we should tell you to do when there is nothing to do. You applied and you wait.

If the job bears no relevance to your qualifications then getting a work permit will be tricky. Obviously if you have been working full time then you won't have just graduated, so you are going to have to return home to apply for entry clearance if the work permit is approved. This will be tricky as well, as they will need to see bank statements, which will show your salary.

Have you checked to see if you qualify for HSMP? If you get this you won't have to leave the UK, but you may well get leave to remain refused if they see you have been working illegally.
