Professional refernces for passport application

Post by wesleycarney » Thu Jul 12, 2007 11:12 pm

Ive got a bit of a problem with applying for my passport as I have not known anyone within a professional capacity for iver 3 years which the Form AN stipulates you must have, the closest I have to that is a person who is the licensee and owner of a pub/restaurant, can anyone let me know if this is good enough.....

You sound a bit confused, are you applying for naturalisation or a passport? They are not the same thing.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

My fault, talking about naturalisation.

Don't forget that in order to fulfil the requirement as a signatory, the person doesn't have to be in regular contact with you at the moment. So, for example, it could be someone that you had dealings with four years ago: as long as you can still contact that person and he or she was happy to sign the form for you, that would be perfectly acceptable.

Hope that might help, because sometimes it is a source of confusion: people think that they need to find someone that they're dealing with regularly now, but that isn't so.

If the owner of the pub is the director of a limited company then this would sufficient to qualify as a professional person.
