I was wondering if anyone could offer advice. Im a uk guy born here, and
my girl is from Malawi, and known each other online for two years. I met my girl in December 2006 in India and then again in July 2007 (in india) where we got married in a hindu ceremony. We couldn’t get a marriage certificate due to the two weeks we were there as it required us to give 30 days notice prior to the wedding. India was chosen as we both have large family there.
So anyway ive decided I will apply for the fiancé visa. I was wondering whether I should mention that we are married but simply don’t have the certificate to prove. I have photo’s and dvd of the wedding as it was quite a big do. So should all this be mentioned?
Another thing is whether I should ask them to consider a wife visa even though we don’t have the marriage certificate to prove the marriage? Or is is not worth bothering to ask and stick with fiancee visa?
I also want to go over to Malawi once the visa comes to bring my wife back to the UK where we will register our marriage as soon as possible.
What would be the likely timescale of having the visa processed there in Malawi as I need to buy plane tickets in good time.
My circumstances are straighforward:
I have a good regular job leaving me disposal income of 600 per month after all bills, live in my own (mortgaged) 2 bed semi, and have about 22k in savings.
Thanks
