Passport copy of person you're basing OCI application on?

Hello everyone,
I want to get an OCI on the basis of my father, who used to be an Indian citizen (citizen of a different country now) but the weird thing is that the documents in the town where he's from have a different date of birth than his passport. So what I'd like to know is if I need to have a copy of my father's passport as one of the documents in my application submission.

I was just thinking of not including the copy because I have a nativity certificate as proof.
