Surrender & OCI can be appiled from india?

Is it possible, after getting the British passport, can i travel back to india on indian passport and Surrender the indian passport in india and apply the oci from india? Please advise.

Technically yes, but adult applicants may face issue / potential penalty.
If time permits, atleast surrender the passport in UK and travel to India with visa and then apply for OCI from there...would be a straight forward application.
