To add to what wanderer has mentioned. If you didn't have a valid visa and entry clearance, then you are an overstayer and therefore cannot apply for anything from within the UK.

It's the same problem....or thereabouts anyway.
Short answer: NO, you don't qualify for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) - you might qualify for a work permit, but your company applies for that after advertising for the job, and you definately need to leave the UK and apply for a visa back home.
Just because you paid taxes and NI contribution does NOT mean you have a right to remain in the UK - if you don't have a visa, you cannot apply to stay.
