Changing jobs and travel before new start

Post by mariner_777 » Fri Dec 19, 2014 2:22 am

Hi there

I am currently employed on a Tier 2 (General) visa sponsored by my current employer (valid until 2017). I have a conditional job offer (subject to obtaining a work visa, which the new company is ready to sponsor) from another company.

My Visa appointment is in the first week of Jan 2015 and we are going for a one day priority service. My notice period in my current company is expiring on 21 Jan and I have five leave days remaining under my current employer.

My question is, I presume that the start date on my new BRP will be my date of visa appointment/acceptance? So technically speaking, from that day I would be under my new company COS although I would still be serving my notice period for my current employer. I have requested my new employer for a two week period before I start the new role. I am thinking of travelling for about 2 weeks+5 days (remaining under my current employer), so my start date with my new employer will be in the first week of February.

Considering all this, will there be any issues in making that travel before starting my new role?

Also, now we can apply for a Tier 2 visa for a five year period. Considering that my previous BRP (valid until 2017) was issued in December 2013. Can I apply for a five year Visa now in January 2015?

Thanks a lot in advance
