1)apply for surrender certificate by submitting last uncancelled indian passport to one of the vfs centres, where they will cancel it and issue a surrender certificate in 7-10 working days.

2) with surrender certificate, approach HCI london to apply for OCI,

As you haven't submitted your Indian passport yet, so in case of any emergency you can travel with your Indian passport and ILR/BRP.
If your travel dates fall outside the 90 days of grace period from naturalisation then you'll need to pay penalty of £145 per travel.
Alternately if you manage to find atleast 2 weeks of quiet period - then you can first surrender indian passport and then apply for visa to travel. Visa on arrival is not yet available for British citizens.
