Fast Track service for child of parents holding ILR

Post by raykau » Thu Dec 25, 2014 7:06 pm

Hello

My wife and me both have indefinite leave to remain in the UK and our child was born on December 23. We are going to register our child as a British Citizen. I called up for the Fast Track appointment but was advised that we are not eligible to apply for Fast Track as we are not British Citizens ourselves. Has anyone else applied for the Fast Track in similar circumstances? I am confused as to what I should do.

Any advise on this will be much appreciated.

Many Thanks

Kaushik

Why do you want to register a child as British Citizen since he was born while you had ILR? There is no fast track service for registering child as British.

If you mean by passport, then he should be able to apply for fast track passport. Check the link below.
Your status is irrelevant as Child is British by birth. I would speak to them again and ask to be pointed to guildline which says you can't apply for child if you only hold ILR.

you are confusing registration as british and application for a passport

these are two separate steps

first you need to register your child as british. the child is NOT british at birth if you did not have ILR at teh time of the child's birth, they have to be registered. in case of your child it is an entitlement, and it will probably be done quite fast, but there is no fast track for registration as a citizenship

if your child was born when one of the parents already had ILR, the child does not need to be registered at all, as the child is british by birth.

fast track is a service for passports. the child should be able to use it, regardless of your status or, in my view, regardless of whether they are british at birth or registered. but it is pointless to ring them if your child requires registration and this hasn't been done yet.

this is deal with by two very different arms of the HO.
