Tier 2 sponsorship - resignation from job

Post by jo.francis81 » Thu Jan 15, 2015 6:54 pm

Dear sir/madam,

I have been in the UK for 6 years and 3 months now on a tier 2 employer sponsored visa. Due to receiving a police caution in July 2013 I am not eligible to apply indefinite leave till 24 months elapse which is in July 2015. Due to difficulties at work I am planning to resign my job as soon as possible my current leave to remain with employer is till December 2016. I understand if I resign this would not be the case.

But since I have been in the UK for over 5 years now, would I need to leave the country if I resign my job ? or can I apply for indefinite leave to remain before 24 months elapse since I received my caution or do I need to look for another certificate of sponsorship till July 2015 to remain in the UK or can I stay till July 2015 after resignation of my current job and then apply for ILR in July 2015.

A urgent response to my query will be very helpful in making a decision about resigning my job. Please provide me with appropriate advise
Thank you
