No Passport Check while coming through Dublin to London

Hi, i came to London on Tier 2 VISA on 20th Feb 2015. My Visa was issued from 31st Jan 2015 for 5 years. While coming from India i had my initial immigration check in Bangalore India. I had a transit at Dublin and my passport was checked by an immigration officer and it was stamped. When i landed in London Heathrow i did not had my passport check. When i checked with some of my friends they said Ireland and UK are in Common Travel Area and once my my passport check is done it will not be done in London.

1) My Question here is since the start date not stamped on my VISA and it is not yet activated will it become an issue in future. Is there any way i can get my VISA activated by visiting Home Office.

2) Now my wife is coming to UK on 25th of March 2015 on Tire 2 Dependent VISA. Since her VISA is also issued on my COS number and my VISA is not yet activated will she have more questions by the Immigration officer?
