Switching from partner to business visa

My x partner and i have broken up n he was on a partner visa & prior to that a working holiday visa & he thinks he is able to switch to being sponsered by his work to a business visa. Hes a Sales Rep Id understand if he was a skilled worker. We have notified immigration of our break up but they never tell you anything except mentioning privacy alot of times. Can he do this & any idea how long it will take?
