Hello there I'm a newbie and need some help! My father lives in Australia and has done since I was 8. My mother and I do not talk and I moved out of our home when I was 16. All my friends keep saying there must be a way for me to emmigrate out there as he has had citizenship since 1989. I am 26 and am an insurance broker with no formal qualifications. I've tried reading all the visa options but I cant see that I would fit into any of the sections? It's important for me to try as he's my only family that I am close to. Any help/advise or opinions would be appreicated.

.

He cannot bring you in as family/dependent.

You are young enough to use the Working Holiday Maker and get two years, 50% of which you can work.

You can also get accepted to a university and come in as a student.

In both these second cases, your father can assist by demonstrating a place of abode and accepting financial liability if you don't have enough money.

You didn't say which country you would be coming from or your citizenship. So, the Working Holiday Maker might not be available to you.

There are also visit visa options for short stays. For European Union citizens (and some others), you can apply for an electronic visit visa that can be good for an entire year. You will need to meet certain passport-type criteria.

Do you want to visit or permanently relocate? Do you want to naturalize?

Is your father an Australian Citizen? If he is a Citizen then he can register you as an Australian citizen by descent. Meaning you will be able to get citizenship in Australia as your friends told you.

This link should make you happy if your father is a citizen:
http://www.citizenship.gov.au/applying/ ... ileges.htm

see the last bullet point under the heading "Privileges of Australian citizens"

But I don't think that her father was a citizen when the OP was born, since he has been a citizen since 1989 and she is 26.
