Fingerprinting of EEA family members

This is new.

Today, my mother, the holder of EEA Family Permit arrived to Belfast.Upon arrival she proceeded to an EEA lane and was duly let through with no entry stamp being placed in the passport. However, she was fingerprinted, whereby prints of thumbs were collected to match them to the ones held in the database.

I have raised the issue with UKVI who were oblivious to the issue. Please, correct me if I am wrong of considering this being in breach of Directive and EEA Regulations 2006. Please advise

We live in Belfast and my civil partner has never been fingerprinted when entering through any UK port since he had his EEA FP and (subsequently) residence card.

Not sure if it is a breach, but I don't think it's necessary for them to fingerprint non-EEA family members.

Hi, thanks. I don't think this is relevant to our case. She has not yet applied for her RC at the point of arrival. In effect, she was entering UK to join the EEA national. She used the EEA lane and had her fingerprints were taken at that point. I am finalising a letter and will be seeking clarification from UKVI. Based on that, I might be compelled to escalate the complaint. It is my understanding that Belfast staff treated her as being in possession of the RC, whereby she was not.
