HSMP and CAYMAN ISLAND

Hello

my friend has received a good job offer from cayman island which is a british controlled territory.

This contract is for two years 2007 to october 2009, and then he will be returning back to united kingdom in 2009 october going to cayman on work permit basis for two years.

He is in this country since last two years from 2005 and holding hsmp visa till 2010.

his query is whether his period of stay in cayman island for two years would be considered as stay in UK at the time of filling his indefinite leave application in 2010?? CAYMAN ISLAND is british controlled territory, please guide, whether this period of two years will be taken into consideration as stay in UK?

or what will be alternate procedue when he return back in 2009, whether he has to wait for another four years? i.e. two years already in UK, 2005, 2006, then 2009, 2010,2011, ?
