Tier 2 General in Guernsey

Dear forum members,

I am currently working in the UK under Tier 2 General route. My visa expires after 6 months.

The company I work for provides support for another company based and registered in Guernsey. Now that Guernsey-based company wants to employ me directly and my company are happy with that. Thus I have a few questions regarding this.

I was researching the Internet and the UKBA website and didn't find the information I need, so hopefully someone here will be able to help me with this.

My questions are:

a) Is Tier 2 General the same for both Guernsey and the UK?
b) Do I need to apply for a fresh Tier 2 General visa to UKBA or Guernsey?
c) Does the Guernsey-based company need to register as a Tier 2 Sponsor with UKBA?
d) I already spend 3 years in the UK under Tier 2 General scheme. Will I be eligible for UK ILR after I spend 2 more years under Tier 2 General in Guernsey?
e) Can I travel to the UK from Guernsey with that visa?

Hi Jolivie,

I am in a similar situation. I lived and worked in London for two years on a Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa. Now I have accepted a job with Guernsey firm. I have already been issued with a work permit however Guernsey Immigration tell me that I need to obtain a Tier 2 Visa.

I am trying to apply for this via the UK Visas & Immigration online platform, however, I am having difficulties because my firm is not registered as a UK Sponsor. I am told by Guernsey Immigration that this is not necessary.

Are you able to perhaps tell me how you ended up sorting your immigration to Guernsey out? I would really appreciate your help as I keep getting told conflicting information and it has reached the point where I think I might miss my contracted start date if things are not resolved soon.
