Moving my US citizen wife back to the UK

Post by ukyank73 » Tue Jul 07, 2015 1:34 am

Been searching for a few weeks for a good forum and it seems like I finally found what I am looking for.
A short history: I am a UK citizen who met my US citizen wife, back in January 2001. I got myself through the K1 fiance visa process to be able to marry my in the USA in June 2002. We have since lived happily in Nebraska.
We have now decided that within the next few years we would like to move back closer to my family in Bristol, England. I have been searching the internet for weeks now to find some answers to how we go about this process, but am now totally confused by it all.
I make in excess of 18,600 GB pounds here in the US and have for a longtime.....will this help me in getting my wife living in the UK?
Any links or experiences would be much appreciated to help us out.
Thanks in advance.

Here's a link to the information you need for a spouse settlement visa.
https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk/overview

In addition to showing that you have been earning the equivalent of £18,600 in the US, you will also need a confirmed job offer in the UK to start within 3 months of arrival, again meeting the £18.600 per annum earnings. Otherwise you'll need savings of £62,500, held in an accessible account for at least 6 months.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Thanks for the reply Casa. You have confirmed what I was thinking I was reading.
Maybe it was my disbelief at the immigration laws to bring my wife back to the country I was born that made me look for clarification.......RIDICULOUS!!!!
Thanks again Casa
