Kse. If you give piecemeal information, you will receive piecemeal answers. Post all the details you have on this situation, not one-liners. No one is a mind-reader and no-one knows you, your partner, or your situation.

So, your baby's father (your husband? Fiance? Boyfriend?) is here under a false name. He has a child with you and wants you to add his name. Now...as I wrote above. No one knows your situation. Is he abusive? Lying, cheating, or just irritating?

Likewise...are you a British citizen? And will your child be a British Citizen? If the child will be a BC, then the father, IF he has legal obligations (access to the child..can't remember the actual term), then he might be able to apply to stay in the UK as the parent of a BC. Which is probably why he is asking you to add his name. But - what name would that be!?

Anyway, if he's abusive, no-good, etc, to you or the child....I suggest you get some advice. Try Citizens Advice Bureau or some similar organisation. Explain your situation. If it is that he obviously doesn't seem to be a good father, or interested in the child, then you should really seek advice on this.

He would NOT be given British citizenship automatically, but he can apply to stay in the UK/EU legally. If you're planning to move to Portugal - he might well be able to apply to move to Portugal too. He certainly won't be able to stay in the UK whilst you're in Portugal - but, if you have joint custody or something, I think he could apply to stop you from leaving the UK with the kid.

All a legal mess. I suggest you speak to someone qualified to help you on this matter.
