Potentially silly question about ILR

Post by Leebee » Tue Sep 25, 2007 9:35 pm

Dear All

I am about to apply for my ILR (from spouse visa) and have a question on the completion of the Set (M) form. In section 1 (applicant's details), it asks for your full name as in your passport and then underneath, your family name. Now, not wanting to get anything wrong, is my full name exactly that, my full name (i.e. first name and family name) or just my first name/s, to be followed by my family name underneath as stated?
I do apologize for the inanity of this question, but the whole affair is quite stressful! Also, I haven't seen any part of the form asking how much time I've spent outside of the country during my qualifying period. Is this correct?

Thank you and kind regards,
Leebee

I have been practicing immigration law since 1998, and I STILL don't know the definitive answer to this question, so you are not being as daft as you think!

I am not sure which I do. I tend to not think about it, as I'd have sleepless nights. However, I have never had a visa printed with the family name twice, and the visa is always printed in the same name that is in the passport, so I have come to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter!

With ILR after two years as a spouse they don't ask for absences.
