Thanks for your reply.
Yeah I am trying to change my employer. My current employer does not like me switching to some other job. I am just worried whether the home office will ask my current employer before the issue of a work permit transfer.

well here is how i understand it. if you get a new job your new employer has to apply for a WP for you, i am sure if it is actually called a WP transfer, and i think at the same time you apply for a new leave to remain. and once that goes thruogh then you can move on to your new job. your current employer is actually required to inform the HO once you leave your job to cancel your WP (ie that is the one with their company, and they have no say in what happens in the new one). i would do if i were you and it were possible, is to get the new employer to get the WP for you, get your leave to remain and then once its all processed then you resign from your job. i dont know if i answered your question but i have put in the link to the HO website which has all the forms and guidance on WP, i think you want to read the once on business and commercial permits, that should answer all your questions. good luck

I agree with F2k on this, however would just like to expand on this.
When you switch jobs you can apply for something called a 'Change of Employment' WP. As long as the job you are changing to has the same responsibilities and title as your previous one. This would not require you to submit your documents (degrees etc.) from scratch for the WP and they'd just pick from your previous profile with them. They know that Job changes are sensitive issues and in case of change of employments ensure no contact is made with previous employers.
I recently changed jobs myself and this was the procedure followed.
Must re-iterate though, only when it is the same job role.
