Work-permit dependant VISA processing time in India!

People,
I desparately need your help! Me and my wife moved to the UK in 2004. I was then a student and my wife a student dependant. Last May I started work here in the UK on a work-permit VISA obtained from India. However, my wife is still here on her student-dependant VISA which expires on 31-Jan-08!

The issue is: In order to plan her trip back to India to apply for a Work-permit dependant VISA, it would be better if we know what is the processing time for such a VISA.

I know it took 14 working days for my work-permit VISA which was submitted at the Bangalore VFS office.

In gist:
1. On an avg. what would be the processing time for work-permit dependant application?
2. Can she apply ASAP, ie. in late Oct rather than in Jan 08?

Any input is much appreciated!

She really should have changed her visa last year! The fact that she didn't will cause delays to the application.

My mistake, by last May I mean May 2007!

Later when I came back from India, in Jun 07 I applied for a change in her VISA. I thought only I was required to leave the country for a change from Student to work-permit VISA. The person on phone at BIA also suggested the same.

However, the HO refused her VISA application saying that her entry clearance in the UK is not correct. But they also mentioned that she can carry on staying in the UK on her current Student-dependant VISA.

I also have raised the issue with BIA who are investigating into this matter. However, we cannot wait for thier decision into this any longer...

What do suggest we do?

Anybody who recently applied for a work-permit dependant VISA in india? Please can you advice on the processing time?

Visa applications are taking about 1 months in India at the moment.
