Schengen Visa for Non EEA Family member of EEA Citizen‏

Post by rajib4u » Sun Oct 11, 2015 8:34 am

I'm bangladeshi citizen and a spouse of EU citizen. Me and my wife planing to travel to Sweden together from Bangladesh. So for my entry clearance to Sweden we decide to take the advantage of Eu directive of free movement. I have checked the official website of Sweden embassy in Bangladesh and there I could not find any information about the documents required for non EU spouse of an Eu citizen. So I would like to know what documents I need to submit for short stay visa to Sweden under the EU directive of free movement and how long it takes to issue with the visa. Since we will be exercising the right of our free movement do we have to submit following of these documents given as below?

*Invitation from the Referent.
*Hotel reservation for the duration of the stay in Schengen Zone.
*Flight booking for the return journey including my spouse.

Thanks

As you are applying as the non-EEA family member of an EEA citizen, I believe all that you need to provide is

a) Proof of the EU citizen's identity & citizenship - a passport or national identity card
b) Your relationship to him/her - Marriage certificate

You may (I doubt it) be asked for proof of a subsisting relationship. So, keep documentary proof such as joint bank account statements, joint tenancy agreements with you. This last part is not required by EU law, but better to be safe than unprepared.
