Hey all hope you can offer me some advice on this one, My Romanian partner came to the UK mid Jan 2007 to work as an Aupair, this didnt work out for her and she was supporting herself for some time here in the UK. We didnt really know each other so well at this time but as with all relationships things advanced and we have now been living together for some time. Weve gone through all the confusing and contradictory information thats around and found our way through it over time. She goes to college and studys Access to Higher education because she needs the papers to go onto uni (apparantly the Romanian Bacheloriate isnt recognised here) Anyway we want to do everything legally and she wants to get into the system so its time to get an NI. apparantly she can get this and work up to 20 hours now she is a student. Problem: The college say they dont know what paper work to give her as her course is free (based on her being my partner and being entitled to free basic education up to a certain level) iv tried to explain to them that this fact itself is evidence of a grant and all that we need is a typed paper syaing that, but there playing silly bu**ers and saying just to send the carbon copy of the enrolment paper, which we all know the government need headed official papers not hand written stuff. Although we are engaged and do plan to marry we dont plan to rush into things just for the sake of papers.
