Tier2 ICT post Apr2010 to Tier2 General

Hi All,
I have been on Tier2 ICT since April2011 with my Visa expiring April 2016. I may get an further extension from my current company thereafter, but wanted to switch to a different company for higher packages.

What are the better options that I have:

1) Is changing to Tier2 General a good option, as I have learnt there are new rules in place since April2014 and it is not fruitful, Can someone be kind enough to explain ?
2) I have my dependants as well living here. How do I manage their Visas?
3) I wish to get an ILR in future and perhaps Citizenship also thereafter, so how do I go about it considering my specific Visa type

With so many rule changes it becomes too complicated, hence your replies here will be greatly appreciated.
