Tier 4 to Tier 2 switch - Queries

Post by srsw » Wed Nov 04, 2015 8:45 pm

Hello everyone,

I've been reading a lot and understood various things needed for CoS and visa applications, so thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.

My situation:

- Currently on Tier 4 visa (valid until Jan '16), along with my family (PBS dependant partner and child).
- Secured a job with an appropriate salary and have been assigned with a CoS.
- I need apply for my Tier 2 (General) visa and planning to do the same next week.

My queries:

1. RLMT exemption point not mentioned on the CoS as RLMT completed anyway. Will it add any value by explicitly mentioning about exemption too via sponsor notes?

2. I took an educational loan from a bank to partly fund my course fee and living expenses. Also, I've received a scholarship from UK University (some discount on fee). Do I need to take no objection letter from the Bank and/or the University to remain in the UK (do they count as scholarship agency/sponsor)? I don't think I need to but would appreciate your inputs.

3. Is there any easy way to find out if the CoS assigned is rCoS or uCoS? Initially, HR said it's rCoS and when I asked to double check they said its uCoS. I've read a number of posts where the wrong type of CoS led to delays or complexities, so just want to make sure that right one is assigned.

4. One of the questions in visa application is "Are you also known by another name?". Does my wife need to answer 'Yes' and provide surname change since marriage or answer it with a 'No'?

Appreciate any inputs. Thanks.

Experts..pls help with any feedback.

I'll submit my application this week, so appreciate any inputs to any of the above points. Thanks.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.
