Tier 2 Dependent visa (India) - Maintenance Proof

Post by tnila » Mon Nov 09, 2015 11:07 am

Hi all,

My wife is about to apply for Tier 2 Dependent visa from Mumbai, India, I have confusion with proof of maintenance.

Is it fine to show my Savings Account bank statement as proof of maintenance? I have sufficient funds in my account but this is not where my salary deposits, do they want to see if this is the account where my salary deposits?

Thanks,
Nishikant

Online Application Process - Tier 2 Dependent.

Post by tnila » Mon Nov 09, 2015 11:22 am

In Online Application,

section: About the main applicant.
Question: Are you accompanying the main applicant or joining them later?
Explanation: Number of the passport or travel document that the main applicant will use to travel to the UK

I cant make any relation between question and explanation, so I am confused what should I answer.

My situation is my wife will be applying for tier 2 dependent application from Mumbai, India, and we will be traveling back together, how should I answer this question?

Thanks,
Nishikant

You have to choose one of these options either "accompanying" or "joining later".
Most likely answer would be "accompanying" as your wife is joining now not later.

Moreover, it is not neccessary to have a salary deposit account.

Are you recently married? I thought marriage certificate is what is generally provided as proof for marriage (?). I've used wedding photos, invitation card for applying for passport for my wife after marriage, however, I haven't used photos, invitation card for UK visa though. Others may correct me if wrong. Thanks.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

@srsw - Thanks, I got married in the month of June 2015. After that I got my wife's passport with new name. So I am in same situation as you are. I believe I will do what you did :)

In application, in personal details section, under permanent address I am giving address after marriage, which is just 5 months, do you think its a problem?

Yep, as long as her passport has new surname and you also attach marriage certificate, that should be more than sufficient as proof of marriage. Just make sure the marriage cert is in English, if not get it translated as per the the visa guidelines.

Reg. address..I don't think it will be a problem. After marriage that's her (new) permanent address. My marriage happened in November and my wife got new passport (for surname change etc.) in Feb. I've used my address as her permanent address. Cheers.

Thanks again. Is it worth applying for priority visa service?

Sorry, I don't have experience of using out of country priority service. Currently, I'm in the process of switching from tier 4 to tier 2 using priority service in the UK. It's still in progress, so can say about it only after few days.

If it is time sensitive n you need decision quickly then priority service is preferable.

@srsw - appreciate your response. Thanks.

I have booked priority service for my wife, at Mumbai.

Just to add a note - Last time when I extended my tier 2 visa in UK, I opt for same day service, I paid almost £500 more, and it was worth.
