wait more than 3 months for license

Hi, my employer applied for the sponsors license to sponsor my tier 2 general visa on 20 August, the UKVI dropped in our office last month to check everything is genuine. However, we didn't hear from them since then. we still don't know whether the sponsorship will be approved. This takes more than the average time and i'm wondering does this mean something might have gone wrong? Thanks.
