Visitor Visa question

Post by John Green » Wed Jan 06, 2016 9:00 am

My wife from outside the EU has applied for a UK visitor visa. She can stay up to 3 months, I think, in England before she has to return home.

On her application form, she said she was only staying in England with me for 3 weeks. She has since decided to stay for the maximum allowed, which is 3 months, if I am not wrong.

Will this change of plans have to be notified? And to whom will it have to be notified?

Thanks.

6 months is the maximum but it's never a good idea to stay beyond that period originally requested.

When she put in her visa application form, they said something to her about 90 days, but I think then this was in reference to something else.

Understood what you say about it not being recommended practice, but if as looks likely she will be here in the UK for 2-3 months, instead of the 3 weeks she wrote on the application form, does she need to do anything to tell them (who?) "just in case"? People's plans do change, but she wants to make sure it doesn't cause her any problems.
