Hi. I saw this and wanted to add for future searchers
I stupidly lost my Biometric request letter after receiving it. I phoned UKBA on 030 0123 2241 and requested they send me a new one, which wasn't a problem, although apparently it can take 15 days. I was also able to confirm that my dependent's biometrics had been received (she didn't lose hers).
