Tier 2 General extension questions on the employer side

Hi you amazing people!

I've currently on the Tier 2 general visa (and wife on the dependant). This visa expires in Jan 2017 and due to circumstances at my employer, the person who normally managed the visa applications etc has left. I've been discussing with my manager about extending my visa and here's where I need the assistance.

To make sure it's done right, because getting the Tier 2 visa was a nightmare originally due to previously mentioned person not being very attentive, my manager has asked for me to provide what the company is required to do from their end for my extension. I can find out what I need to do from mine.

I've gone through the relevant website, guidelines and google and can't seem to find specifically what the company needs to do. Do they need to apply for a new CoS that I then use as part of my extension application? I'm assuming then the cost to the business is the cost of a new CoS as I don't see specific costs for an extension.

Any help or direction on what the business needs to do and costs involved would be hugely appreciated. I can then organise my side of the application.
