Exchange Rate when to transfer sterling?

Post by ozlam » Sat Nov 10, 2007 5:34 am

Hi all,
My parents have migrated but are suffering with the current pound to dollar rate, they have the proceeds of a house sale imminent, I wonder if someone could advise when it may be the best time to transfer?, what are the collective thoughts regarding the next 3 months?
Many thanks in anticipation

.

Everyone would like answers to that question, about all currencies today!!

:?

The Australian Dollar (AUD) is very strong right now. Of course, what everyone wants to know is if it will remain strong.

The best anyone can guess right now is based upon the last few years' of performance, and then try to guess what is about to happen.

I recommend paying attention to the Euro. Also. Depending on fluctuations, it could well pay off to convert to euro's and then later to AUD's.

Notice that gold is also trading near historic highs right now. Due to weakness in the USD, I've seen some estimates that oil will break $120 brl in the next quarter or so and gold may well climb to $1200 (or even $1800?) an ounce in the coming 18 months.

There are many currency converters, but yahoo has a pretty good one for basics right here:

Based on these charts, if the AUD goes above $250 to the GBP, that might well be a good time to pull the trigger.

BUT. Will it exchange at that rate any time soon ...?

If you have any good tips or observations, there are a lot of people who'd be interested ...
