Paying fee from UK for applicant in pakistan

Post by sajjad.hussain » Sat Apr 09, 2016 5:42 pm

Hi, my brother is paying my UK visa fee online from UK for my application to be filed from Pakistan. The fee is 1000 pounds but his visa card is being charged at 1040 pounds. Why is that so?

Due to the exchange rate that the Home Office use. Which visa category are you applying for?

That's the way it is unfortunately. How many separate applications are you submitting? Don't forget the NHS surcharge will also be applicable for each person in addition to the visa fees.

I m going to submit five applications and will have to pay for NHS and visa fee separately. Eventually it's my decision to go there so it's me who has to bear it anyways. Thanks again.

In India, all banks charge a 3.5% forex conversion surcharge on credit card transactions abroad.

But my friend is not paying from abroad. He is paying from UK with UK bank credit card but still he has to go through the forex conversion process from Rs to Pounds and it results in increased amount.

It doesnt matter he is in uk or not..
the fee is meant to be paid in pkr and the best way would have been if you had paid for your fee from a card registered in pakistan. The fees are not in pounds but in pkr.
under which category is your fee £1000? are you sure you are looking at correct table of fees? the fees went up on 18 march.

I've had the same concerns over the £1000 fee. How much are you paying for each of the 5 applications? :?

It is £1000 for five year IHS and then £1150 for five year visa fee. This is for one applicant. And I am going to pay for five of them.

like i said, if you do not want to pay for excess charge of currency conversion, then you are better off paying using a local registered card.
Just because it is a UK visa, it doesnt mean the conversion fee shouldnt be applied. For the vast majority of people who apply, they apply using a local card and hence the demographics are set for that country,. any one using any other country registered card will have to pay conversion charge.
