Urgent enquiry: HSMP and WP at the same time

Dear all,

Can anyone please tell me whether it is possible to file 2 applications to the Home Office at the same time?

I have sent an HSMP and FLR(HSMP) applications recently, and my potential employer wants to send an application for Work Permit also just in case the HSMP is refused.

How will that affect the HSMP and FLR(HSMP) applications already being considered?

Also, am I allowed to start working with my new employer if I have both HSMP and FLR(HSMP) being considered at the moment?

Also AFAIK you cannot have HSMP approval and FLR approval done at the same time.

If you currently have a valid FLR (previous WP FLR) then you may work for your new employer considering your new employer has filed a WP for you and it is approved.

But you need to apply for the new WP FLR within 6 months or before the current FLR exists, which ever is the earliest.

An HSMP and a WP are not visa applications, they are immigration employment documents. and yes, they can both be applied for at the same time. When the approvals are in, you can then choose which to take up. If the HSMP and HSMP FLR is approved then you just send the WP back.
