Confused Re Marriage Laws in R.O.I - please help :)

Post by Angela081 » Mon May 09, 2016 2:11 am

Dear all,

It has always been a dream of mine to come and live and work in Dublin.

I am currently residing in England and I hold two passports, British and Italian. I got my British passport about 1 year ago.

My fiancé he is Moroccan and we plan to marry at the end of next year after he finishes his work contract in the Middle East.

My questions are:

1) After marriage can I bring my spouse to the Republic of Ireland to join me?

2) Having Italian nationality will I be exercising my EEA Treaty Rights if I am working in Ireland and is there a minimum income I should be earning?

3) is there a minimum time I need to be residing in ROI before bringing my spouse over?

4) If all this is possible and I make an application. How long would it take for us to be together?

If anyone can shed some light on this. I will be eternally grateful.

Thank you to all Angela :D

Once you are married you can apply for him .

There is no minimum earning or minimum time you should have been married for.

Thank you for you response. I would just like to make one point more clear. As I'm looking at being in the R.o.i does that mean I'll be bringing my spouse under EU/EEA law?

And do I myself need to be registered in order to work in Dublin? Thank you kindly for your time.

Angela :) :D
