Bringing a Non-EEA Spouse to Northern Ireland - Help Needed

Post by Angela081 » Mon May 09, 2016 12:46 pm

Hi everyone,

I am currently residing in England, I have always wanted to work and live in Dublin.

Next year I plan to marry my fiancé who is of Morrocan Nationality.

I hold the British Passport (obtained in 2015) and I am a holder of the Italian passport also.

I have a few questions surrounding this.

Can I bring my spouse into Ireland under EEA law?

How long will it take roughly for him to join me once I have submitted the application?

Must I have been residing in Dublin for a certain time period before he can come to join me?

Any help will be grately appreciated :)

Yes you can go to Ireland and work and live there with your spouse.

Some delays reported on Eire processing entry visas. See other topics in forum on this aspect.

You can move together if you wish. No need to go ahead, (alone), unless you wish or need to do so.

Thank you for your reply. My fiancé is currently working in Saudi as a teacher. And we thought to save more money before we got married as we would like a lovely wedding and don't wish to burden our families with the cost.

Can I clarify one thing. You said we could move there together? Wouldn't he need an entry visa first as my spouse?

Yes, spouse will need an entry visa whether you travel together or separately. The visa is issued 'to join or move with' an EEA national.
