I wanted to share my experience with applying for 'Surrender of Indian Passport' by post, and get some thoughts from other members.
Q1: Can you apply for Surrender of Indian passport by post any more ?,
Q2: Can you see anything missing in my application?
I am currently in the process of Surrendering my Indian Passport and applying for OCI.
I followed the info on the VFS website http://www.vfsglobal.com/India/UK/Surrender.html and posted my application (to India Visa Application Center, TW4 6JQ), but soon received this response:
"
It does not say what is missing and just says to apply in person.Dear Applicant,
Thank you for applying at Indian Visa Application Centre via Post.
This is to inform you that your application is found incomplete during initial screening and NOT processed and returned back.
________________________________________________________________
Your application has been returned back via Royal Mail/DX courier number xxxxxxx & you can track the status of your courier on the respective website or CLICK HERE .
Reason for return: Additional Information/Incomplete Documents
Applicant is requested to apply for the surrender of indian ppt in person
Important Note: All the applicants are requested to submit their visa application along with the return Sheet.
The documents I had submitted:
1.Duly filled application form (http://www.vfsglobal.com/India/UK/pdf/A ... 271115.pdf)
2.Printed & signed copy of the declaration form (http://www.vfsglobal.com/India/UK/pdf/D ... 240815.pdf)
3.Original Indian Passport
4.Self-attested photocopy of Indian passport (All used pages)
5.Two recent 50 mm * 50 mm size photographs
6.Self-attested photocopy of the current British Passport( Only the photo page*)
7.Self-attested photocopy of British / Foreign Naturalisation certificate
8. Postal Order of £115.44.
