Hi all, I'm new to the forum.
I've got some doubts how to count my absences, perhaps you guys could shed some light on it.
I came to the UK in Feb 2008 and stayed in the country with no major gaps till Nov 2011, then I was abroad until mid-June 2012 (around 220 days). Since then I've been permanently in the UK.
The application form EEA(PR) in section 5, point 5.4 indicates that you are allowed to be absent from the UK for 'no more than six months in ANY 12-months period'.
Should I understand, that basically any absence for over 180 days within any consecutive 365 days breaks your continuity of residence? And, if so,in my case I'd be eligible to apply for indefinite leave to remain and naturalisation respectively in June 2017 and 2018 (provided that immigration regulations won't be changed)?
Or, should I count separately each 12-months period, starting from Feb 2008 (which would put me within an allowed 180 days limit between 2011 and 2012)?
Or, should I count each calendar year separately?
Thx in advance for any suggestions.
