British citizenship /WRS / being in "good character"

Post by kataryna1985 » Tue May 17, 2016 9:22 pm

Hi! Here's my story - I'm Polish. I came to England in March 2006 and started my first job straight away.I registered with WRS in first 30 days. After 11 months(in February 2007) I finished this job and after 3 months break started another one (may 2007)where I work till now. Unfortunately I haven't register it to WRS, didn't know I had to. since 2011 there is no need to register with home office any more, so I know I can apply for permpermanent residence card, but my worry is about naturalisation. On the government page you can read "you’re of good character, eg you don’t have a serious or recent criminal record, and you haven’t tried to deceive the Home Office or been involved in immigration offences in the last 10 years" as one of requirements. Because I didn't register my second job, technically it wasn't legal for the period of time till 2011, does it mean I'm not "in good character" and will be refused British citizenship? Please, give me your advice. Thank you.

Relax. The requirement was to be registered under WRS for the first 12 months of employment.

That is register within 30 days.
And to re-register within 30 days of changing jobs.

However your second job rolled over into year 2 so you should be in the clear.

Not registering was not an offence for a worker (although it was for the employer).
And you didn't have to be continuously registered up until 2011.

Many good, hardworking A8 nationals have naturalised and no reports so far of any being penalised or criminalised because of WRS.
(Ofcourse some have received refusals due to not being fully or properly registered).
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost. E&OE.
