Help and advice needed

Post by tulipz » Sun Nov 25, 2007 8:39 am

Hi
My husband and I are planning to work in UK for sometime. We are confused about how to go ahead

Background: I am an engg grad, with IT work ex of 4yrs.... Credit cards and Insurance Domain
My husband is an IIT, IIM grad, 3yrs of pre-MBA experience and 1.5 yrs of post mba exp

I work for a reputed IT company and he works for a consulting company
(in India)

Senario:

The current senario is like this:
We plan to go to UK in March-april 2008

My company will most prob sponsor my WP and send me there (80% Sure)
My husbands company is trying...(Only 20% chance)

So, my husband is plannin to take HSMP.

Here are my doubts...please help clarify them

1. How easy or difficult will it be to find work in Uk for his profile?
2. I have a UK work permit...will it help me get HSMP?
3. is it better to apply through a consultant or independently?
4. any leads to a job consultancy placing MBA ppl in permanent roles?
5. I am in hyderbad, any leads to hsmp consultants here?

Thanks,
Tulipz

You have several options:-

1. Your employer obtains a work permit for you, and your husband can then apply for a visa as your dependant;

2. Your employer obtains a work permit for you, and your husband applies for HSMP;

3. Your husband applies for HSMP (if he meets the points total), and you can apply for a visa as his dependant.

With options 1 and 2, you would be tied to working for the employer named on the work permit, but your husband would be free to work for whomsoever he wishes. With option 3, both of you could work for whomsoever you wish.

Thanks for the reply...i understand the options available. But whats holding me at the back of my mind is the likelyhood of my husband finding a permanent job.....

Also, is march- april the right time to look for jobs ? should he conisder finding work in IT ? Can he find work in consulting in a reasonable time frame?
