Standard Visitor Visa for Sister

Post by GSHANKAR » Sat Jun 04, 2016 9:59 am

Hi All,

I've ILR and Settled in UK with my wife for a while now. I want to bring in my sister for family visit & tourism. She already applied for Standard visitor visa and has not provided any of documents related to property occupied or owned. Due to which her visa has got rejected.

She is my only sister, unmarried & un-employed. She runs some coaching/tuition classes for students back in india for free. We live in a joint family and our father has expired last year. All the property documents (agriculture Lands/Houses) are jointly shared between my father and my uncle.

Currently, we don't have any of property related documents which are owned by my sister or any of my family members. So what are the way's to go forward in this case, please suggest.
My sister is coming here for tourism and to stay with my family, just for 2-3 months.

So, what are the possible documents I can quote, which can prove that she returns back to India after her stay.
Please suggest.

The issue is not property documents. The issue is that

From the view point of a Home Office caseworker, the ideal person to overstay her visa in the UK and become illegal.

Is there any proof that you can adduce that would show that she will definitely leave the UK at the end of her visa, that she has got really strong links back home that she would have to return back to? Otherwise, a UK visit visa sounds highly unlikely.

Alternatively, if you are inviting her for a vacation, take a joint vacation in another EEA country. As an Extended Family Member, she should be eligible for a free Schengen visa.

Good idea.

Otherwise its a regular Schengen visa required for Union states.
Cape Verde is an option too as its visa on arrival.

Whoops, made a big mistake there. The OP is not a British citizen and so EU law does not apply.

Unless you can show strong links back to India (job, fiance, etc), a UK visa is highly likely to be rejected.

So, a regular Schengen visa and a vacation in Europe or anywhere else other than the UK really.
