P60 with payslips - are bank statements required?

Post by lesterburnham » Sun Jun 05, 2016 10:44 pm

Hi,
I'm sending all my p60s (10) and 6 payslips for each year I worked (66 in total as I had 2 employers at times). Should I send bank statements in addition to that? Am I risking application rejection without bank statements?

I'm asking as I would need to wait few days for official copies from bank (I could print online statements but as far as I know they are not acceptable and HSBC won't stamp them for me). I don't want to wait another few days given referendum date approaching quickly...

You don't need them: P60s and payslips prove residence and that you exercised treaty rights.
Why are you sending 10 P60s? 5/6 should be sufficient.

By proving residence do you mean proving address? If so, not all my payslips have address on them. For proving address though, I'm sending council tax notice letters + various other letters with my address on them. Do you think that's enough or in that case I should wait to get official bank statements?

I have online printouts that I could send my application with today but I don't want to risk rejection based on not supplying official bank statements. On the other hand I don't want to wait another few days due to approaching referendum date.

I'm sending documentation since I came to UK hence 10 p60s. I'm hoping to get my PR start date as old as possible so I can apply for citizenship sooner.

I phoned HSBC up and ordered statements to be sent to my home address which as I was informed, can take up to 10 working days. I was also charged £10 for it.

Then, I went to HSBC branch and asked for statements - they printed it right away on their official paper but without my address and "Duplicate statement of account" written on top of each. No charge for this, really strange.

I don't know now if I should wait for statements sent through post? Apart from containing my address (is this important at all for permanent residence?) would they be any different i.e. won't have "Duplicated statement of account" written on top?

Has anyone requested statements through post and received statements from HSBC without "Duplicated statement of account" written on top of each? Does it matter at all?

Also, from EEA PR guideline document:
"Unless otherwise stated, please send original documents only. Photocopies are not acceptable. If
you’re unable to send the original, please explain why. We’re unlikely to be able to approve your
application without sight of the original document.
If you receive bank statements in online/electronic format only, ask your bank to stamp each page
with their official stamp."

So I have statements printed by bank with "Duplicate statement of account" written on it but it's not a photocopy. ANyone knows if that would meet Home Office requirement?

You don't need proof of address, you only need to prove your residence.

You don't need to send the bank statements if you are sending P60, that's just increasing the amount of paperwork.

I used HSBC bank statements (duplicates that I also got from them for £10), no problem there. I got them in the post and they said 'duplicate statement'. A duplicate is not a photocopy (they do look like originals as well) so it's all good with HO.

Best to keep your application light (but of course still send unimpeachable evidence). I for example sent:

Year 1-3 (Worker): 3xP60 and 1 employer letter (proves treaty rights and residence)
Year 4-5 (self-sufficient and later worker): 3x bank statements (HSBC as above) and 1x utility bill and CSI proof (self-sufficient) ad then 2xP60 and employer letter when I was a worker again. All in all about 10 pages. Don't stress too much, your evidence sounds good

Thanks for your replies LilyLalilu.

I've read conflicting opinions about people sending bank statements in addition to payslips/p60s. Since I already have them, I'll send them too. This means however, that on top of 10 p60s and 66 payslips, I'm sending 68 pages of bank statements... This sounds like overkill compared to what you've sent...

I've no clue if I'm doing right or not but sounds to me like what I'm sending provides impeccable evidence of my worker status.

Also, this might be useful for someone: I gave Home Office a call (0300 123 2253 ) about this version of bank statements. I said that I'm on online banking and got statements printed at bank branch with each statement saying it's a copy. Lady on the phone told me that I should just include explanation that I'm on online banking and these version of statements will be fine. I usually don't trust this kind of advice as I would probably get different response depending who answers the phone but I'm already going mad trying to get that sent so I'll just go with that...
