Questions - filling form AN for naturalisation

Post by Lady01 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 12:06 am

Hi All,

I entered UK in July 10th 2010 in Tier 1 general and got my ILr on the June 16th 2015.

I am thinking of making my application after June 16th, around the 20th which will complete 12 months.

My questions are:

1) English requirements: I got IELTS certificate in 2005, bachelor degree in India and Masters in the Netherlands, in which the transcript says the language of instruction in English only for masters.
For my Tier 1 extension, using point based system, I used by bachelor degree from india which automatically allowed me to select 5 points on the online pbs, so i qualified for ILR aswell using Tier 1.
Now as of April 2016, this point based system does not exists it seems, so should i go through the NARIC visa/nat services to qualify my bachelor and master for English? or use the settlement after the october 2013, exempt from English requirements ? or is the transcripts confirming the language of instruction in English in my masters from Netherlands is enough?.

2) good characters:
I have had atleast 6-8 car parking tickets and some i have delayed and paid extra fine to close it before appearing in court. similarly couple of occasions missed council tax and paid of before any court letter
. I dont remember the exact dates and the occasions for the above. Do i need to enter them all details clearly?. do i have to provide any proof?. what are the chances of them tracking back to my parking tickets if i dont mention them in the application?

3) Residence proof:

I have worked for the same employer in 2 different locations since i entered UK. do i have to provide residence proof with council tax, housing contract, bank statement ? or is it enough to provide a letter from the employer ?
if i had to provide council tax, in some houses i lived i didnt have to pay myself and some bills i lost them, what should i do in this case?

4) employment proof:
I have a letter from the employer used during my ILR confirming my employment since 2010, the days i have been out of country on business and annual leave since that period until June 2015 . is this enough or should i get a recent dated and until 2016 instead of a seperate letter from june 2015 to 2016?
do i still need to provide p60s for last 6 years ?

5) recommendation: is it ok if i get from 2 of my British colleagues, we are an engineering company. if i had to go to the MLA or councellor, there is no way they know me.

6) spouse details: I am married since Sep 2013, my husband left to US in a years time and did not want to renew his visa in june 2015 when i had my ILR. Infact we are thinking of applying for divorce. Should i mention in the application that we will be applying for divorce as they might be wondering why i am giving his address as America and if my intention will be to move there and why we did not renew his dependent visa since june 2015?

7) Other than life in the UK and above documents discussed, is there any other document required to be submitted?

8) With passport: if i apply together for a passport, will this delay my application?

9) BRP: Once the application is made with perfection, can i expect the BRP invitation to arrive within 10 working days? as i am planning to go abroad and it can be for a extended period of 1 to 1.5 months.

Many thanks in advance for taking time to reply to my posts.

Any help will be gratefully received.

To avoid confusion & jumbled responses, I have moved your question to its own thread (this one).

1) See forum FAQs for a start: http://www.immigrationboards.com/britis ... 98118.html

2) See forum FAQs on good character: http://www.immigrationboards.com/britis ... 05532.html

3) If non-EEA national with stamped passports showing UK entry/exit, such passports will be adequate.

4) Citizenship is not a 'visa'. No requirement to be employed.

5) Choose your professional referee from this list: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... ersons.pdf

2nd referee can simply be a British friend, aged over 25.

(As you have been integrating into the community you should ofcourse have been cultivating such contacts, ready for when you need them).

6) Keep it simple. Mention something (briefly and simply) in additional info section if you feel it helps.
Otherwise state Married & include partner details as per the questions.

7) Not really, apart from payment form, photos.
Return envelope if not applying via NCS.

8] It may speed it up (overall). Still budget for several months.

9) No, don't bank on it.

thank you very much for your response. Very useful.

I am just not sure about this 1 bit on the English language.

I did call the home office yesterday and today. Both occasions they asked to get the NAric ceritificate for English language ( 150 pounds :( ) even if tick the "I met the English requirement for ILR after October 2013".

NCS and you are suggesting no need of any proof , but home office is asking to pay 150 pound to UK NARIC.

More than the money, my first problem is it is going to be very difficult to get a letter from the University which i graduated 10 years ago that the medium of instruction was in English ... very painful and time consuming exercise. Although the transcripts already say the medium of instruction is in English, UK NARIC request for a letter.

I am not sure if its worth taking the risk and not produce this proof from UK NARIC but just submit degree certificates from abroad which highlights medium of instruction is in English and tick the box i met ILR after Oct 2013.

sorry to repeat the question but just want to get your opinion

thanks,

The HO helpline may or may not be reliable.

As per Q8 of forum FAQs (English) you need the NARIC.
If you read Q9 you may find it applies to you.
