Girlfriend moving to London

Post by Justinscarred » Fri Jun 10, 2016 11:35 am

Hi all,

Please help! my girlfriend lives in Brazil but wants to live over here to study and then work.

What visa's does she need to fill out?

Also is she entitled to any benefits as well?

If you could send any links of any pages or any advise it would be greatly appreciated

Kind regards

Justin

Have you had a rummage around on Gov UK website?

What's your nationality and immigration status?

fyi - there are no bf/gf type visas.

Does gf have funds to become an international student (Tier 4 visa)?

Is gf highly-qualified/highly-skilled so that Tier 2 route may be an option.

Or are you an EEA national (not British)?

Tier 4, have been accepted by a university, and have around £10,000 per year to pay for it. Work after that more difficult unless she's a absolute brainbox or has some superskill.

No benefits.

What research have you done already?

Also her English is okay but she'll like to come her to study English language course so she'll feel more confident in speaking English.

Tier 4 states if she can read write and understand English she can but not fully

So as mentioned, regular UK routes would be Tier 2 (work) or Tier 4 (study) or else fiancee/marriage (family settlement) route.
All are quite stringent financially or in other requirements.

Otherwise both of you could resettle in Europe for a while (you would have to work there) - the much maligned but perfectly legitimate Surinder Singh route;
be aware there may be changes to this EU option depending on the Referendum outcome & etc - so watch this space).
