Urgent!!! 2004/38 directive and travel insurance!!

Post by gillacious_505 » Sun Jun 12, 2016 1:47 pm

Hello dear members,
I wonder if I can get an urgent response from you as the visa Application is tomorrow.

Is the necessity for the non EU family members of EU national to have travel insurance as a mandatory requirement for applying the short term visa from a non EU country. If no, then can you mention the official document where it is written .. I know the document mentions that there is no burden of proof for means of support and other accomodation details but there is nothing related to travel insurance.. only saying because German embassy in new Delhi requires this as a mandatory requirement..

Please help !!

Its probably more a case of asking the German embassy to provide their justification for this bizarre request.

Solvit may be able to assist.

Get up to speed on free movement here (suggest send copy to embassy):

But none of the points categorically mentions about the travel insurance. It mentions about the fields in the form but not the travel insurance??

So no travel insurance. Simple.

You can travel at your own risk if you wish to. "Its your funeral".

Challenge embassy to justify their 'request'.

Or get some travel insurance for your own protection.

Absolutely apalled by the behaviour of VFS Germany Visa Consular services in New Delhi. Despite citing the directives, VFS kept asking for accommodation details. we obviously didnt anticipated that because we are not obliged to give them details. So they have kept the file pending.

Sent email to embassy but got no reply.

If you can read my previous post, I was referring to the accommodation details not the travel insurance this time.
