Call from.UKVI

Post by owon » Wed Jun 15, 2016 8:35 pm

Hi wondered if getting a call from the UKVI is a good sign. My partners UK visit visa application was rejected the first time, but we never received a phone call. We corrected the mistakes from the first application, and I got a phone today from a man in south Africa, although I was very nervous the questions seemed easy enough. Told me I should a decision by Wednesday.

Why would a man in SA be ringing you?

My partner is Ugandan, and Ugandan applications, are processed in South Africa Pretoria. It seemed to be a genuine call. All questions seemed to be connected directly to my partners curcumstances, and the only thing he asked me to confirm was my date of birth.

Did your partner apply from Uganda then? That would make more sense, was confusing because I thought you'd applied from the UK.

That makes more sense then! I wish they'd be more proactive and communicate by email at least for UK applications, the pace for requesting further information by letter is glacial!

I was also checking because there were many Indian visa applicants in the UK getting contacted by phone by people in India asking for money to resolve alleged issues back in India.

Sounds like it was fairly routine but maybe someone else who's applied from Uganda can advise?
