Ukm registration british citizenship help....

I'm applying for registration as a british citizen using ukm form.
Was born in usa in 1981
British mother. British subject in old passport?? 1978
Mum was a dependant of a forces/civilian component stamped in old passport issued in 1978..
American father
Lived in uk since I was 5
Hold no passport as the American one I had when I was a baby is lost....
No records of citizenship or naturalization for me between 1981 and 1986 at national archives
Home office also hold no record after 1986
Do I qualify????
